The aspirations of most humans are no longer to become human beings with noble character but to shift towards material orientations. Education was also affected and led to mercantilism. Many educational centers are then imaged as business centers rather than character building places. Religious devotion is a damper for the explosion of egoism in humans. In Hinduism religious service is called bhakti. This term is contained in many religious texts, including the Kidung Wargasari. The purpose of this research is to get an in-depth description of Religious Service Education (bhakti) in the Kidung Wargasari. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with content analysis in the text. The results of this study are that in the Kidung Wargasari there is self-devotion education (bhakti) such as devotion as educational worship, self-purification before praying, worship using offerings, belief in statues as manifestations of God, sincerity to serve God, apologies for all mistakes, worship with art, love for the environment, and religious unity
I Putu Suweka Oka Sugiharta ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://e-journal.iahn-gdepudja.ac.id/index.php/SD/article/view/2128 Fri, 10 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 MAKNA FILSAFAT ATMAN DALAM PELAKSANAAN UPACARA NGERORAS https://e-journal.iahn-gdepudja.ac.id/index.php/SD/article/view/3248
This study aims to examine the philosophical significance of Atman in the Ngeroras Ceremony, one of the stages of Atman's perfection in Balinese Hindu tradition. The Ngeroras Ceremony is understood as a transformative rite that represents the tattwa teachings about the Atman's journey after death and the implementation of beliefs in the Five Principles, specifically Atman, Karmaphala, and Punarbhava. This research employed a qualitative approach with case study methods, participant observation, and in-depth interviews with the ceremony's organizers, priests, and family members. Data analysis was conducted through interpretive reduction, presentation, and conclusion-drawing techniques to uncover the symbols, meanings, and philosophical values contained within the ritual. The results indicate that the Ngeroras Ceremony functions as a spiritual purification process that leads the Atman to a higher level of consciousness. The symbolic meanings of the ritual, such as the use of fire, light, and offerings (banten), illustrate the Atman's transformation from avidya to vidya and the return of physical elements to the universe. In addition to its theological value, Ngeroras also has a social dimension, strengthening family solidarity and fulfilling pitra rna. This research confirms that Ngeroras is not merely a traditional obligation, but a theological and philosophical practice that reflects Balinese Hindus' deep understanding of the essence of Atman and the cycle of life. Thus, this ceremony serves as a crucial medium for maintaining the continuity of Hindu teachings, values, and spirituality amidst changing times.
Ngurah Komang Ariawan ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://e-journal.iahn-gdepudja.ac.id/index.php/SD/article/view/3248 Mon, 13 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 FILSAFAT SAKRALITAS DALAM TARIAN REJANG DEWA SEBAGAI MEDIA PENYUCIAN RUANG DALAM TRADISI HINDU BALI https://e-journal.iahn-gdepudja.ac.id/index.php/SD/article/view/3246
This study examines the philosophy of sacredness in the Rejang Dewa dance as a medium for purifying space in the Balinese Hindu tradition. Rejang Dewa is a sacred dance performed in a series of Dewa Yadnya and is understood as a representation of the descent of divine vibrations into the ritual space. This study uses a qualitative approach with religious ethnography methods through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results show that every element in Rejang Dewa—movement, music, costume, formation, and the sanctity of the dancers—contains symbolism that reflects the concept of śuddhi or purification in Hindu teachings. This dance functions to harmonize the energy of space so that it is worthy of being a vehicle for the presence of niskala power. In addition, the study found that Rejang Dewa strengthens the values of dharma, traditional solidarity, and Balinese Hindu cosmology. Thus, this dance not only serves as an expression of sacred aesthetics, but also as a theological medium that maintains cosmic balance in religious ceremonies.
Ni Nyoman Novitasari ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://e-journal.iahn-gdepudja.ac.id/index.php/SD/article/view/3246 Tue, 14 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 SIMBOLISME DAN MAKNA TEOLOGIS SUDHI WADANI DALAM KERANGKA FILSAFAT HINDU https://e-journal.iahn-gdepudja.ac.id/index.php/SD/article/view/3245
This study aims to examine the symbolism and theological meaning contained in the structure of the Sudhi Wadani ceremony through a Hindu philosophical approach, particularly those derived from the Vedas, Upanishads, and tattwa teachings. The research method uses a qualitative approach with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and document studies with religious practitioners, traditional leaders, and relevant religious texts. The results of the study show that each stage of the Sudhi Wadani ceremony, from physical and spiritual cleansing, chanting mantras, offering banten, to the declaration of dharma, contains symbolism that represents the process of self-purification, transformation of consciousness, and reaffirmation of the relationship between Atman and Brahman. The theological meaning of Sudhi Wadani is oriented towards personal purification and the affirmation of life ethics through Tri Kaya Parisudha and the realization of the concept of moksha as the ultimate goal of humankind. Sudhi Wadani is not merely a ceremonial ritual, but a practice of Hindu philosophy of life that emphasizes the transformation of consciousness towards spiritual purity. The symbolism present in this ritual depicts the process of humankind's return to its true self (Atman), while its theological meaning emphasizes the cosmic connection between humans, nature, and Brahman. Thus, Sudhi Wadani has strong relevance as a spiritual practice that unites aspects of ritual, theology, and philosophy into a unified whole.
Sayu Kadek Jelantik ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://e-journal.iahn-gdepudja.ac.id/index.php/SD/article/view/3245 Tue, 14 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700
