Abstract

Early childhood education regards art activities as a crucial approach to fostering children's creativity, expressive abilities, and socio-emotional development. However, studies on coloring activities within a competitive context remain limited, as most research focuses separately on enhancing creativity or motor skills. This study aims to analyze coloring competitions as a means to boost creativity and self-confidence among early childhood participants at Hakka Youth Lombok. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study focuses on Category A participants ranging from playgroup to kindergarten age and involves supervising teachers, parents, and committee members as supporting informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that coloring competitions provide children with opportunities to explore ideas, select colors, create artwork independently, and build the courage to showcase their abilities. Support from teachers, parents, and committee members further reinforces the development of the children's creativity, self-confidence, and sportsmanship throughout the event. This study contributes to the field of early childhood education by demonstrating that art competitions are not merely product-oriented but serve as learning experiences that holistically support the development of a child's potential.
